Standing up for Torry/Ferryhill
Aberdeen Resident Michael Kusznir has been selected as your Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for the forthcoming local elections on 5th May.
Michael is a lawyer, living and working in Aberdeen, and is a former Community Councillor for Aberdeen's City Centre. He assists clients with their legal problems and this real life experience would be greatly beneficial in representing our area on Aberdeen City Council.
Michael said,
"I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity to speak up for the good people of Torry and Ferryhill. I want to deliver on the issues which matter on the issues which matter to local people, even as the separatists at Holyrood slash our Council buget.
"Delivering on local issues like bin collections, potholes and anti-social behaviour, alongside the City-wide issues of supporting an energy transition, protecting jobs and focusing on recovering from Covid, not Nicola Sturgeon's Neverendum, are my priorities.
Working for our communties
Liam Kerr MSP with Michael Kusznir outside Victoria Road School
"It is fantastic to see work progressing on the redevelopment of Victoria Road School - a real opportunity to provide more affordable housing and community spaces for Torry. A project long supported by colleagues, including Liam Kerr MSP.
As a Councillor, Michael would be keen to see the Council supporting more community enhancing projects, driven by local people that will make our City an even better place to live.
A less positive ongoing issue remains the smells emanating from the Nigg Water Treatment Plant. They are undoubtedly having a negative impact on quality of life. It should not be up to residents to just keep complaining to SEPA - there needs to be a permanent solution. Michael will work with colleagues to demand that Scottish Water does better.
Preserving our green spaces
Lockdown has shown the importance of our public green spaces such as Duthie Park and Bon Accord Terrace Gardens as we reconnect with friends. Michael is delighted to see the Council lauch its Duthie Park trail guide, showing its histroy and heritage. Hopefully it will encourage more tourists to enjoy not just the park but The David Welch Winter Gardens and inform us all of our City’s history.
Nearby the Ferryhill Railway Heritage Trust has been progressing their own regeneration of the former locomotive depot. It is cracking to see their plans progress as they now look to upgrade the old office block and water tower to enable trains to take on water and turn there too. As a Councillor, Michael will champion this local spirit and speak in the Town House with an unabashed dedication for residents.
