The SNP abandon the North East after voting against A96 upgrades and the Cambo oil field.
In the last two days the SNP have let down the North East of Scotland twice in a row. First, Nicola Sturgeon finally confirmed that she is opposed to the Cambo oil field development. This desperate bid to please the Greens, while egged on by Labour, threatens the thousands of jobs it would protect. Liam Kerr, Scottish Conservative Shadow cabinet secretary for net zero, energy & transport said that the First Minister has "fully abandoned Scotland’s oil and gas industry".
“By refusing to back the Cambo development, the SNP have deserted the industry they once cited as the cornerstone of their economic case for independence.
“Only the Scottish Conservatives are resolute in standing up for the livelihoods of oil and gas workers in Scotland as we transition to net zero.”

It's clear that the SNP are failing to listen to people in the North East as even their former candidate and comms chief Fergus Mutch hit out against the First Minister. "Stop Cambo doesn't get us very far. In fact, it gets us unemployment and more imported oil for decades".
Liam also took on the SNP-Green coalition on their failure to commit to dualling the A96 accusing them of "kicking the can down the road" to appease the Greens. He called it a "disgrace that [after] three decades...it is still not dualled"
Today, Douglas Lumsden called out the First Minister on her government's neglect of the North East.
“On Tuesday the First Minister turned her back on 100,000 oil and gas jobs, many in the north-east. Yesterday the SNP turned its back on its commitment to fully dual the A96. Can the First Minister explain to the people of the north-east why she has turned their back on them?”
Douglas Lumsden MSP
The First Minister responded to Douglas' question by branding it as "nonsense". Aberdeen Conservatives disagree, it is not nonsense when this government is threatening a cliff-edge switch-off of oil and gas leaving tens of thousands of North East workers out of a job overnight, crippling our economy. We won't sit still and let the SNP get away with allowing Aberdeen to pay the price for their economic incompetence.
