Today the Scottish Government Cabinet meets in Aberdeenshire and during peak hour traffic this morning the First Minister, Alex Salmond, was held up at the Haudagain roundabout and late for his 8.10am BBC radio interview. Conservative Councillor Ross Thomson has re-iterated calls for the Scottish government to bring forward plans to start work on the notorious Haudagain Roundabout compared to the SNP Government's current timetable of after 2019.
Businesses lose millions and motorists in Aberdeen continue to suffer road misery because of the SNP's refusal to tackle congestion at the roundabout branded as Scotland's worst.
Today Councillor Ross Thomson, who stood as a candidate in the Aberdeen Donside by-election, called on the SNP to bring forward the essential work with urgency.
Councillor Ross Thomson said:
Local People in Aberdeen have simply had enough of the chronic congestion and to end this misery the SNP needs to get their finger out and bring forward the work on the new link road between North Anderson Drive and Auchmill Road. Under the SNP's current plans the people of Aberdeen will have to suffer until 2019 or longer. The SNP have been shamefully dragging their feet on this vitally important project."
In 2007 Alex Salmond promised the people of Aberdeen that he would fix the Haudagain roundabout, well we are still waiting. The SNP since taking office have been so fixated by their desire to rip Scotland out of the UK that they are failing to deliver on the issues that matter, failing Aberdeen by going round and round the roundabout rather than fixing it."
""We have had plenty platitudes from the SNP but no action. It’s high time the SNP stopped ignoring the needs of the people in Aberdeen. Today the UK Government has made major announcements about investment in Aberdeen and the wider North east. The SNP Government needs to demonstrate its commitment to Aberdeen by bringing forward improvements to the nightmarish Haudagain roundabout now."
